The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) featured more than 1,800 exhibitors showcasing the latest in metalworking and technology at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
With more than 82,000 buyers and sellers visiting this five-day trade show, it was invigorating walking the halls of McCormick. Weaving through crowds of machinery enthusiasts on the way to each of the four wings of the convention center was a bit challenging, but most everyone carrying a badge shared the same goal–to view and interact with the most innovative machines in the manufacturing industry, and possibly leave with some new equipment. If traversing a sea of buyers and dealers meant also seeing a colossal vertical machining center in action, a Fanuc Robodrill working away, and a Yaskawa Robotic Machine acting as a casino card dealer, then it was worth it!
We were fortunate enough to visit several booths belonging to companies regularly featured on our online-only auction websites, MMI-Auction.com and MachineToolBids.com.
Mazak greeted us with their orange and white banners at the South wing entrance. We moved through the aisles of turning centers, watching the high-powered spindles operating at rapid speeds. Haas displayed various CNC lathes, manipulating the metals into shapes while creating a silver effect on the ground with its shavings. It was hard to miss Fanuc with their yellow booth (and blazers). 
The company aligned their aisles with robots ranging from minis to monsters.
Yaskawa grabbed everyone’s attention with their presentation of machines. This booth allowed curious visitors to play a hand of Blackjack with a card-dealing robot!
At the end of the day, we left with high expectations for what is to come in the manufacturing field (along with a handful of pens, bags and stress balls). The advancements in technology seen at this year’s trade show were incredible, and we look forward to returning to IMTS next year. We also can’t wait to exhibit at the next big industry tradeshow, FABTECH, November 12-14. Come see us at Booth #C8337!
